Hello there!

I'm Peter from Germany, and I've got a big problem with that beautiful snowglobe effect.

I'm experienced pretty less in Photoshop, and since the tutorial for creating an animated snowglobe with a photo of my own is written in English, I'm not able to get through that stuff (but downloaded all files necessary). However, it seems, when I read the tutorial, that creating a snowglobe of one's own with the help of that PS action and a suitable photo should not be a big deal for an experienced user. So, can anybody help me?

Thanks so much in advance!

Kindest regards!

Peter

Hi Peter,

Your English is great. What part of the tutorial do you find difficult to follow?
The whole process is very easy:
1. Download & decompress the necessary files in step II of the tutorial.

2. Run the action on an image.

3. Go to the layers panel and switch off the visibility icons for the "Snow larger flakes" & "Snow smaller flakes" layers.

4. Flatten the image and save it as panostest.jpg, replacing the default image which you decompressed earlier.

5. Run PicturestoExe.
Select File > Open
Open the panostest project (it's in the folder where you decompressed the 4 files).
Click on CREATE to save the exe file..

Hi, Panos!

First of all thank you so much for quick response! :)

Well, my problem is as follows:
Your action runs on a photo of my choice without any problems till the notice "Done!"
Now my problem begins: You wrote "Go to the layers panel and switch off the visibility icons for the "Snow larger flakes" & "Snow smaller flakes" layers".
I can't find this option with that little eye-icon. Also, I can't find any "Flatten" command. I only use Photoshop 6.0, can it be that these options are not part of my PS version?
But if it should work with the 6.0 version, what have I to do?

Best wishes!

Peter

Dear Peter, all these options are available even in Photoshop 6.
In order to find out how to turn off the visibility icons for these two layers take a look at this image:

As for the Flatten image, it's in the layer menu (Layer > Flatten Image). Layer is "Ebene" in German, so you should look at the end of the "Ebene" menu. It's the "Auf Hintergrundebene reduzieren" option.

Dear Panos,

it's done! :)
I could find anything necessary to complete my globe the way you described it!
Thanks so much!

But, however, now I've got the next big problem :(
How can I embed that .exe-file in my website? I don't want to link the .exe, and everybody would have to download it from my server before he can see it.
I 've seen on your website that you embed your snowglobe with the help of a .swf-file. Can I do so, too, and ,especially, how can I do it? Or will it only work with saving my "panostest-file" as an avi to enable people to watch it?

A lot of question, and hopefully noone will be upset to read only question from me...

Kindest regards!

Peter

Hello and thanks for your message!

I'll let you see my globe as soon as I've put it somewhere on my website. Or do you want me to email you the .exe-file (around 4 MB)?
